The Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (DMID) is a division of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), which is a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), U. S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). DMID supports extramural research to control and prevent diseases caused by virtually all infectious agents except HIV. These activities include clinical trials to evaluate experimental drugs and vaccines.

The site is password-protected and contains information relating to various DMID-sponsored studies. The web site provides access to the study protocols, source documents, reports, Manuals of Procedure (MOPs), rosters, and other relevant study materials. Also included are links to AdvantageEDCSM and Advantage eClinical® (IDES), the Internet data entry systems used to submit and audit data collected in the studies. Access to some information on the website is restricted.

Under the CRID contract, Emmes staff are responsible for collecting and analyzing data and for statistical consultation to DMID. Additionally, the CRID project staff maintain the AdvantageEDC, Advantage eClinical, and GlobalTraceSM electronic specimen tracking systems, generate and post data reports, create and post source documents and Manuals of Procedure, and manage the web site. Administrative and coordinating support for DMID includes activities such as scheduling conference calls and investigator meetings, distributing information, and coordinating study activities. Emmes also conducts education and training sessions in-person and via webcast on data entry, source documentation and specimen tracking and coordinates other site management activities.
